Caracal, the Caracal suits her personality because it is one of the most beautiful animals and Caterina has always been called beautiful, the Caracal symbolizes Speed and Agility which Cat has, it also symbolizes Protectiveness and Cat is very protective of those close to her, and the Caracal also stands for Caterina's being opportunistic. She would use the memory of meeting her father again after he escaped from Azkaban the first time and being able to hug her father.

history

Caterina was born the oldest child and older daughter to Augustus and Daenys Rookwood, into a wealthy pureblood family. Her parents were and are firm believers in blood supremacy, her father was a member of the Death Eaters. Voldemort was active for at least five years of Caterina's life. Caterina was born in her maternal grandparents manor on an island off the coast of Denmark, her father had sent Daenys to her parents fearing for his wife and unborn daughter should anything happen to him. Caterina came home to England with her mother when she was just about nine months old, she met her father for the first time, and Augustus was happy to see his daughter for the first time. Augustus, Daenys and Caterina lived comfortably for the next few years in Rookwood Manor. And Caterina was doted on by both her parents. The Rookwoods having money was a great tool, money helped clear any charges the Ministry had against her father. Caterina's father Augustus was betrayed by Igor Karkaroff to save his own skin, and Augustus spent the next fifteen years in Azakaban, away from his parents, his pregnant wife and daughter. And once again to protect her family Daenys took her daughter and in-laws to her native island Upssala, Daenys gave birth to twins her son Aelyx, and a daughter Madeline a few months after arriving at Uppsala.

Caterina grew up in Uppsala, and was close to her three uncle's Viserys, Daemon and Aegon, especially her uncle Daemon who was 10 years her senior. Her uncles and grandparents doted on her, as did her mother. Her uncle Viserys told her she would do great once in Beauxbatons, where she would go when she was of age to start attending. Caterina grew up used to being praised and used to get whatever she wanted whenever she wanted. She started attending Beauxbatons when she was of age to do so, she adjusted surprisingly well at the school, she and her cousin Rhaenyra went to Beauxbatons just a year apart, Cat went first being followed by Rhaenyra. Her uncle Daemon would send her gifts he got for her during his travels, to school, and during her holidays Caterina would spend her time with her uncles Daemon and Aegon, mostly with Daemon her favorite uncle or her cousin. By the time her father escaped from Azkaban during the Mass breakout, Caterina had graduated from Beauxbatons, but her brother was still in school, Caterina moved back to England with her mother, brother and paternal grandparents. The same year as their return the a War took place on Halloween, Caterina, her mother, her cousin Rhaenyra and her uncle's took part in the War, her uncles Viserys and Daemon had come with them to England for a while, along with Rhaenyra. Caterina watched as her mother was killed by an Order Member for trying to protect her husband Augustus, which enraged Caterina but she was stopped by her uncle Viserys from acting rashly.

After the War was over, Augustus made sure his remaining family was out of the Order's way, he sent his brothers-in-law and neice back home to Uppsala, he sent his daughters and son home to Rookwood Manor, risking his own life and freedom for his family. Augustus was caught with a few other well known death eaters, and was forced to admit his crimes under the truth serum. Caterina now feels like an orphan, with her mother dead and her father in Azkaban, Caterina holds the Order responsible for her plight, for her feeling like an orphan. She has recently started working with her grandfather Octavius in the Seven Swans, their family bussiness. Caterina is among the children of the death eaters who have been sent to Azkaban, they talk about freeing their parents from Azkaban. Caterina wants to help her father, she wants to free him from Azkaban, she has decided to work in the shadows to help her father and other death eaters come out of Azkaban, she doesn't want to risk anyone finding out, so she has only shared information with a select few others like her.

The Rookwood family arrived in England with the Saxons, and received lands for their service to the Kings of Wessex, and they had relations with many Muggles, sometimes even through marriage. The Rookwoods were one of the wizarding families with ties to royalty. The first Rookwood to come to England were Rudolph and his son Aimery de Poitiers, who took the name Rookwood from the features of the land their residence was on. When the Armand Malfoy came to England with William the Conqueror, he was given a daughter of Nicholas Rookwood in marriage. The Rookwoods were interested in Dark magic but were not known to dwindle in it. Augustus's father Octavius was a classmate and friend of Tom Riddle, but he was never a part of his Death Eaters. Octavius first married Ingeborg Selwyn, Ingeborg gave birth to his children Augustus and Livia, Ingeborg died when Augustus was 10, Octavius then married Liliana Goyle under whose influence Octavius and Augustus began dwindling in Dark Magic and Augustus joined the Death Eaters.

Daenys comes from the once noble Eriksson family, descended from Ragnar Lothbrok through his son Sigurd, King of Denmark. The first to take the last name Eriksson was Aenar, the son of Erik. Aenar married his sister Aemma, the custom of marrying in the same family began way before Aenar and Aemma. The Eriksson's were given land by the King of Denmark and Aenar chose the island of Uppsala to be the seat of their family. Daenys was born the oldest child to Lord Baelon Eriksson and his wife Alyssa Eriksson (nee Krum), Daenys was followed by three brothers Viserys, Daemon and Aegon.
